Road Win Lifts Houston to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The Houston Bayou Rats started the League Championship Series in style today, winning on the road against the Boston Beaneaters at South End Grounds by a score of 5-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Bayou Rats right-hander Octávio Sánchez was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball.
Diego Reyes helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 3-run home run to give Houston a 3-0 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Reyes told the Houston Chronicle.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at South End Grounds in Boston. The scheduled starters for the game are José Ontiveros for the Houston Bayou Rats and Miguel Gonzáles for the the Boston Beaneaters.
