Raucous South End Grounds Crowd Propels Beaneaters to 9-6 Victory; Series Tied at 1
Houston catcher Donald Johnson pounded Boston Beaneaters pitchers at South End Grounds, but it was not enough to keep the Bayou Rats from falling, 9-6 in Game 2 of the League Championship Series. Johnson was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Bayou Rats slip into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.

Boston took a 8-6 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, pinch hitter Derek Funk hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Boston skipper Sergio Garza.

The next game is set to be played Monday at The Rats' Nest. Slated to start are Barry Charite for Boston and Sifaks Bashiri for Houston.
