Perfectos Hammered by Simpson, Drop Game 4 to Bayou Rats
|
On the verge of being swept and facing a red-hot St. Louis Perfectos team, the Houston Bayou Rats had a tough assignment. Josh Simpson delivered.
The Bayou Rats second baseman was unstoppable for the visitors, as he was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once in guiding his club to its first victory of the series, 4-3. Simpson, 29, was named player of the game for his efforts. The win means Houston now trails 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.
Simpson delivered in the top of the second inning for Houston. With the game tied and the bases loaded, the second baseman hit a grand slam home run to right.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Houston manager Paul Lupi.
Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow at Juliet Gunn Field. Slated to start are Octávio Sánchez for the Houston Bayou Rats and Manuel Morán for the the St. Louis Perfectos.
