For the victorious Sendai Hopes, that meant the Japanese Baseball League Round 1 trophy. The Hopes took a 2-1 victory over the Fukuyama Norsemen at Hopes Ballpark, winning their 8th championship after taking the series 4-3. "We've got grit," said Hopes second baseman Sumitomo Nakamura, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to."
