Lost in all the hoopla of today's amateur draft are the young men who won't be going first, tenth, or even fiftieth. Many of them will never even make New Federal Baseball League rosters, but one and all will be spurred on by the possibility that some day they'll be playing on a championship club. SION scouts report that these players are likely high picks in the 2016 draft:
1. Dan Lambert, 18 year-old right fielder out of high-school.
2. Alfredo García, 18 year-old center fielder out of high-school.
3. Andrew Hunter, 19 year-old left fielder out of high-school.
4. Erik Gilbert, 19 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
5. Tim Meehan, 18 year-old right fielder out of high-school.
6. Reynaldo Hernández, 20 year-old first baseman out of college.
7. Colt Gibson, 19 year-old left fielder out of high-school.
8. Jack Wood, 19 year-old shortstop out of high-school.
9. Luis Flores, 21 year-old shortstop out of college.
10. César Flores, 18 year-old third baseman out of high-school.

There's still time for potential dealmakers to get instant feedback on their proposals, but once the day ends, GMs will be returning home. As a result the tempo of dealmaking, typically rapid at the Winter Meetings, will slow to its more customary pace.

The latest news from the SION reporters following the Hollywood Stars is that an agreement has been reached with Adalberto Beltran to continue as their reliever for another 3 years.
A check of Beltran's career stats shows he has 19 saves with a 38-42 record and a 4.23 ERA.
