| Breaking News | | Saturday, July 8th, 2017: Hit Parade, Horace Gets Cycle Philadelphia's Jamison Horace accomplished what few others have been able to do -- he hit for the cycle.
In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a "natural cycle".
For the day he finished up 4-4 with 6 runs batted in and 4 runs scored and helped his Quakers knock off the Houston Bayou Rats 17-4 at Myers Field.
In the SION postgame press conference he said, "I didn't even know I had hit for the cycle until the reporters told me after the game."
J. Horace walked in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off J. York in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a two-run single in the 8th.
Thus far this year Horace is batting .316 with 16 home runs, 56 RBIs and 67 runs scored. | | Thursday, July 6th, 2017: Saenz Sparkles, Blanks Houston The Houston Bayou Rats struggled at the plate today against X Giants hurler Hernan Saenz, who shackled them on 5 hits while hurling a complete game 8-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Bayou Rats skipper in his postgame comments.
"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Saenz finished the game with 6 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Hernan made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
In 22 starts this year Saenz has crafted a 12-2 record and a 1.87 ERA. | | Thursday, June 29th, 2017: Houston Right Fielder Hurt Houston fans held their breath as Will Mullins left yesterday's Superbas-Bayou Rats contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 25-year-old right fielder had suffered a fractured wrist while making a defensive play. It's estimated that he will be out 3 weeks.
For 2017 Mullins is batting .292 with 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and 30 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 37-52, .416 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 24.0 GB | | Record at home | 17-31, .354 PCT | | Record on the road | 20-21, .488 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 3-6, .333 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 7-9, .438 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 14-17, .452 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 23-35, .397 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 6-20, .231 PCT | | Record in May | 16-11, .593 PCT | | Record in June | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in July | 2-6, .250 PCT |
